MONTHLY MEETINGSThe Delaware Valley Chapter of SISTERS IN CRIME meets once a month from January through May and from September through December.
Each meeting is held on the third Saturday of the month from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Meetings are held at the Tredyffrin Public Library, 582 Upper Gulph Road, Strafford, PA 19087, in the first-floor meeting room, directly inside the front entrance to the library. Our session begins at approximately 10:30 a.m. and includes a business meeting and a guest speaker from outside the group. Our guest speakers offer insight into various occupations and procedures that are as interesting to our reader-members as they are to our writers. In the past, we have had the privilege of welcoming judges, forensic anthropologists, coroners, fire investigators, cyber-crime sleuths, FBI agents, and other fascinating guest speakers. |

DelValSinC Monthly Meeting (Open to the public)
November 16, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Tredyffrin Public Library 582 Upper Gulph Road Strafford, PA 19087 The First Baptist Church of Philadelphia’s Burial Ground: the Problem, Project, and People of the Past Encountered at 218 Arch Street. In November of 2016, the Philadelphia Inquirer published an article about bones found at a construction site at 218 Arch Street. As a private project, no city office would take charge of the human remains despite the fact that construction equipment was exposing and damaging them. The Mutter Institute, as a collaborative research organization associated with the study of historic human remains, approached the property developer with an interest to learn more about the bones found at the site. What ensued was a race-against-time excavation of a portion of the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia cemetery, supposedly moved in 1860. Our presenter is Kimberlee Sue Moran has been a forensic consultant and educator since 2002. Her archaeological research includes ancient fingerprints, the Whispering Woods site in Salem, NJ, and the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia also known as “The Arch Street Project”. She will be discussing her role in "The Arch Street Project." |
